VinFast hosts media drive day with tech and motoring content producers
Recently, I had the privilege of attending a media event hosted by VinFast, where they unveiled their latest lineup of electric vehicles (EVs), the VF 3 and VF 5. The highlight of the event was the opportunity to take the VF 5 for a spin around ASEANA and Parqal, Pasay City.
During the event, I had the chance to drive around a VinFast VF 5 with a 326km range per full charge. It has a fast charging time that can give 70% capacity within 30 minutes of charge.
Smooth and Powerful
The first thing that struck me about the VF 5 was how smooth it was to drive. Despite its compact size, the vehicle delivered a surprisingly seamless driving experience. The electric motor, which produces 100 kW of power and 135 Nm of torque, provided ample acceleration and responsiveness, making it a joy to navigate through the city streets.
One should not underestimate the VF 5’s power based on its small stature. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.9 seconds, which is quite impressive for its class. This performance, combined with its eco and sport modes, makes it versatile for both daily commuting and occasional spirited driving.
Spacious and Comfortable
Another aspect of the VF 5 that impressed me was its interior space. Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the vehicle offers a generous amount of room for both the driver and passengers. The cabin feels spacious, with enough wiggle room for everyone to get comfortable. Additionally, the trunk space is ample albeit lacking a tonneau, with 260 liters available when the seats are up and a whopping 900 liters when they are folded down.
This makes the VF 5 an excellent choice for families of three or four people. At its price point, it offers an affordable entry point into the world of EVs, allowing more people to experience the benefits of electric driving without breaking the bank.
Innovative Battery Subscription Plan
One of the unique features of VinFast’s offerings is their battery subscription plan. While it may initially seem like a barrier to entry for some potential buyers, it is actually a genius model that promotes longevity and reduces upfront costs. The plan allows customers to purchase the vehicle at a lower price and then pay a monthly fee for the battery, which includes comprehensive coverage for maintenance and replacement if the battery capacity drops below 70%.
For the VF 5, the battery subscription starts at P 5,800 per month for 1,500 kilometers of driving, averaging about 50 kilometers per day. This not only makes the vehicle more accessible but also provides peace of mind for owners regarding battery health and maintenance costs.
A Quick Look at the VF 3
While the VF 5 was the star of the show, the VF 3 also deserves mention. This even more compact EV is designed for city driving, with a range of 215 km on a full charge and fast charging capabilities that can replenish the battery from 10% to 70% in just 36 minutes.
The VF 3 is priced attractively, with a special limited offer of P 605,000 for customers who book before October 15. After that, the price goes up to P 645,000 with the battery subscription model and P 745,000 with the battery included.
Interestingly as well, we also spotted a VF 7 and VF 9 at the display area. However, we were not able to fully check it out.
