Samsung is reported to have decided to temporarily transition away from its in-house Exynos SoCs for its upcoming flagship Galaxy S25 and S26 models. This shift may be attributed to persistent production issues plaguing the Exynos line.
Samsung – No Exynos Powered Phones for the Meantime?
According to a report from tipster Ice Universe, the decision to adopt Qualcomm Snapdragon chips offers the south Korean company several advantages. Snapdragon has a proven track record of delivering high-performance and reliable SoCs, ensuring that the Galaxy S25 and S26 meet the expectations of demanding users.
Moreover, by relying on Snapdragon, the company can streamline its production process and reduce development costs.
While Samsung has temporarily shifted its focus to Snapdragon, the company hasn’t abandoned its Exynos ambitions. The company is actively working on a new Exynos chip codenamed “Ulysses,” which is expected to leverage Samsung’s second-generation 2nm technology.
If development goes smoothly, the Ulysses chip could be ready for integration into the Galaxy S27 series by the end of 2026.
By temporarily embracing Snapdragon and investing in the future of Exynos, Samsung aims to strike a balance between ensuring the success of its flagship smartphones and maintaining its long-term commitment to in-house technology.
