Smart and its value brand TNT warned its subscribers about text messages urging subscribers to re-register their SIM in fake SIM registration portals.
Smart and TNT – Fake SIM Registration Website
The latest advisory of the telcos bared the new modus of scammers, whose message comes with a link that leads to a phishing domain imitating the telco’s official SIM registration portal.
“Smart did not send these messages. These messages are phishing attempts aimed at stealing your personal information,” the telco said in its advisory.
“Smart clarifies that there is NO NEED to re-register your Smart or TNT SIM if you have successfully registered it before. Please disregard any message asking you to register again.”
The companies also reminded the public of the official SIM registration portal which is https://simreg.smart.com.ph.
What to do with text scams and phishing incidents?
The company also encouraged its customers to report incidents of text scams, phishing messages, and other similar cases via the HuliScam website.
HuliScam is a public reporting portal from the two companies that complements the new and more advanced network firewall that the PLDT Group recently activated. The advanced network firewall helps block malicious messages from passing its network for a safer and more secure mobile lifestyle.
