I had the chance to review the first iteration of OPPO Find X in 2018. It was OPPO’s major introduction of a flagship device to its loyal consumer base. It was not a perfect device, but its features and innovations give the brand a head start in the flagship space.
It took a while for OPPO to bring a flagship device to the country. Just today, OPPO Philippines announced that they are finally bringing the Find X back. However, they seem to have locked out Filipino consumers from buying a Find X8 Pro because of their decision to only sell the Find X8 in the country. However, are Filipino consumers really losing a lot from this? This review talks about my thoughts about it.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Build and Design
OPPO has truly outdone itself with the Find X8 Pro’s design. The back panel evokes the feeling of touching a slate of marble, giving it a luxurious and unique aesthetic. The edges at the back are slightly curved, contributing to a comfortable grip despite its large size. At just 8.24mm thick and weighing 215 grams, it’s impressively slim and light for a device packing so much technology.
One of the standout features is the Cosmos Ring camera system, which is not only visually striking but also functional. OPPO has managed to reduce the camera bump by about 40% compared to its predecessor, making it more comfortable to hold, especially when gaming or watching videos.
The Find X8 Pro comes in two elegant colors: Space Black and Pearl White. The Space Black variant features a fingerprint-resistant finish with a frosted texture, while the Pearl White option offers a subtle, pearlescent shimmer that makes each device unique.
A notable addition to the Find X8 Pro is the Quick Button, which adds an extra layer of functionality. This feature allows users to launch the camera in just 0.4 seconds with a double-tap and provides smooth zooming capabilities by sliding along the button.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Display
The Find X8 Pro packs a massive 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2780×1264 pixels and a 19.8:9 aspect ratio. While the slightly curved bezels add to the premium look, some users might prefer a flat display like the one on the non-Pro variant.
However, the display’s performance is nothing short of exceptional. With a peak brightness of 4500 nits (local in HDR), it’s one of the brightest screens on the market, ensuring excellent visibility even in direct sunlight. The 120Hz refresh rate and 450 PPI density contribute to smooth scrolling and sharp visuals.
Eye comfort is a priority, with the Find X8 Pro featuring 2160Hz PWM dimming at 70 nits or below and DC dimming above 70 nits. It’s also TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 4.0 certified, making it easier on the eyes during extended use.
The display supports various HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, ensuring that users can enjoy a wide range of high-quality content.

Under the hood, the Find X8 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, built on TSMC’s 3nm process – same on what’s in the standard Find X8. This processor, coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, delivers exceptional performance.
The device’s cooling system, featuring a high-efficiency vapor chamber and graphite layer, ensures sustained peak performance even under demanding workloads.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Benchmark
The Find X8 Pro’s performance is truly impressive, as evidenced by its benchmark scores:

- Geekbench 6 Multi Core: 7,083
- PC Mark: 16,289
- 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme: 6,130
These scores place the Find X8 Pro as the second fastest smartphone in our flagship phone benchmark database, just behind the ROG Phone 8 Pro, which is classified as a gaming smartphone. This performance level makes it an excellent choice for users who prioritize speed and efficiency in their daily tasks and mobile gaming.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Software and Other Features
The Find X8 Pro runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15. The software experience is impressively close to iOS 18, making it an excellent choice for users transitioning from Apple devices. The user interface is clean, intuitive, and packed with useful features.
One of the standout software features is the AI Photo Remaster suite, which includes AI Studio for creating avatars and profile pictures, and AI Toolbox for productivity tasks like summarizing text and generating content.
The device also supports Google’s Circle to Search feature, allowing users to search for any object or text on the screen with a simple gesture.
A unique addition is the Touch to Share feature, which enables seamless file sharing between the Find X8 Pro and iOS devices through NFC, bridging the gap between Android and Apple ecosystems.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Camera
The camera system on the Find X8 Pro is truly exceptional, featuring a quad-camera setup:
- Main Wide: 50MP Sony LYT808 (1/1.4″, 23mm, f/1.6 with OIS)
- Ultra-Wide: 50MP Samsung 5KJN5 (1/2.75″, 15mm, f/2.0 with autofocus)
- Telephoto: 50MP Sony LYT600 (1/1.95″, 73mm, f/2.6 with OIS)
- Periscope Telephoto: 50MP Sony IMX858 (1/2.51″, 135mm, f/4.3 with OIS)
The dual telephoto cameras, representing 73mm and 135mm focal lengths, are a significant advantage over the non-Pro variant. This setup, combined with the powerful main sensor, delivers exceptional image quality across various shooting scenarios.
The Hasselblad collaboration shines through in the camera’s performance, particularly in portrait mode and color science. The Film Simulation Modes add a touch of nostalgia and creativity to photos.
One of the most impressive features is the gapless quality zoom, which provides smooth transitions between lenses, minimizing the jarring effect often seen in other smartphones when switching focal lengths.
The Find X8 Pro also introduces Livephoto to Android, matching the quality and functionality of its iOS counterpart. Additionally, the dedicated concert mode allows for impressive zoom capabilities up to 30x, making it an excellent choice for capturing distant subjects at events.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Audio and Battery
The Find X8 Pro features a studio-level 4-mic setup, ensuring high-quality audio recording in both vertical and horizontal orientations. This is particularly useful for video recording and voice calls.
The Find X8 Pro houses an impressive 5910mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is remarkable considering the device’s slim profile. In real-world usage, it delivers outstanding battery life, lasting up to 16 hours and 37 minutes with 20% remaining.
Charging is equally impressive, with 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. The device also supports 10W reverse wireless charging for added convenience.
OPPO Find X8 Pro Review- Verdict
The OPPO Find X8 Pro is a flagship phone that excels in nearly every aspect. Its stunning design, exceptional display, powerful performance, and versatile camera system make it a top contender in the premium smartphone market.
While it may not be available in all markets – especially in the Philippines, its feature set and performance justify its premium positioning. For users seeking a high-end Android experience that rivals or even surpasses some of the most popular flagships, the Find X8 Pro is an excellent choice.
The combination of innovative features like the dual periscope cameras, advanced AI capabilities, and the refined ColorOS 15 creates a user experience that’s both powerful and intuitive. Whether you’re a photography enthusiast, a power user, or someone who simply appreciates cutting-edge technology, the OPPO Find X8 Pro delivers on all fronts.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro represents a significant step forward for the brand, showcasing their ability to compete at the highest level of the smartphone market. While its price point may be steep, the value proposition for those seeking the best in mobile technology is undeniable.
This will not be available in the Philippines. However, I was told that had they decided to bring this to the Philippines, this would likely be priced around 75K. And to answer the question if Filipinos are going to lose much from its unavailability in the country – the answer would be ‘No’.
Should they have brought this one instead? I really don’t think it’s a wise choice for OPPO Philippines especially if its price closely matches the iPhone 16 Pro or the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, if this was priced PhP64,999 to PhP69,999 – a tad PhP10,000 more than its non-Pro variant, I will buy this instead.
