After Meta’s success with Ray-Ban Stories and the upcoming Ray-Ban Meta, Samsung is ready to join the fray. Reports suggest their answer will be an XR (Extended Reality) device, offering functionality beyond typical smart glasses.
Samsung’s Upcoming Smart Glasses – What We Know So Far
While an exact release date remains undisclosed, rumors hint at a possible unveiling in early 2025. Samsung might showcase their XR device at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in January or during their Galaxy S25 launch event, expected around the same timeframe.
Details are scarce, but leaks suggest the XR glasses will share some similarities with the Ray-Ban Meta. These include features like voice commands and potentially a built-in camera for capturing photos or videos.
However, the Korean company’s focus on XR technology suggests their offering might surpass basic smart glasses functionalities. XR encompasses both Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), potentially enabling features like displaying information overlaid on the real world or immersive virtual experiences.
Meta and Samsung are vying for the smart glasses market, offering consumers more choices. The upcoming XR glasses may appeal to advanced users, while Ray-Ban glasses focus on style. The market is set to be reenergized by Samsung’s innovative wearable technology.
