The OPPO Reno13 series 5G was announced to arrive in the country last January and was officially available just in time for Valentine’s Day. At the top of the series was the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G, which we were given the opportunity to try out for ourselves.
The series itself shares some of its features across the board like the AI-powered features and the IP ratings, but here are just some of my favorite highlights from the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G.
OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G Five Features We Love
Butterfly Shadow Design
First on the list is of course the new Butterfly Shadow Design.

I love the sleek and subtle design of the Graphite Grey colorway which was the color of the device that was lent to us. However, the Plume White of the Reno13 5G and Plume Purple color of the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G just has an eye-catching quality to it especially when the light reveals the butterfly wings.

Having seen it for myself in our recent Siquijor trip made me appreciate it so much. It’s the kind of design that makes me think twice about putting a case on the phone.
That’s a good thing overall, as it means the company has done a good job designing their smartphone.
Camera

Second is its camera, of course. As a member of the Portrait Expert Reno series, camera is always one thing I look forward to try out. The camera module on the Reno13 Pro 5G doesn’t disappoint.

It is equipped with a 50MP main camera accompanied by a 50MP telephoto lens and an 8MP ultrawide snapper. The front sensor is just as good with a 50MP snapper.

Overall, you’re getting good photos across the board, regardless if its dimmer settings like walking around the city at night or during the day time. Of course, you can expect drastically better photos in brighter settings.

I enjoyed just how versatile the device is in capturing photos, especially around the back. In case you were curious, the telephoto offers up to 3.5x optical zoom but goes as high as 120x on digital zoom. Let’s not forget that there’s an ultrawide lens onboard if you want more in your photos.

Underwater Photography
While we’re on the topic of the camera system of the Reno13 Pro 5G, the Pro device and its siblings boast an IP69, IP68, and IP66 rating which allows them to be submerged in water without worrying about it taking damage.
The Reno13 Series 5G, yes, including the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G, utilizes the water resistance ratings to allow you to shoot underwater in freshwater.

This feature came in handy while I was enjoying the Cambugahay Falls during the aforementioned trip to Siquijor with OPPO, media, and some content creators.

Now, I may not be the most adventurous guy out there, but I loved how the IP rating wasn’t just another tick on the spec sheet. Instead, OPPO thoughtfully added a new feature that maximizes the IP ratings.
We have an article specifically for this feature. You can read that here.
AI Features
In addition to the Portrait Expert moniker for the Reno series, the Reno series has become known as an OPPO AI Phone and the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G and the rest of the Reno13 series 5G is no different.

I thoroughly enjoy features like the AI Eraser 2.0, AI Reflection Remover, AI Unblur, and the plethora of AI generation of AI Studio.

The AI photo editing tools like AI Eraser 2.0 and AI Reflection Remover are among the most polished in the market probably next to Samsung or at par. The latter, in particular, was quite fun especially as someone that spends a lot of time in the car going to events and meetings. It does what it says on the tin for clearer photos even while looking out a window.
AI Studio also requires a special mention with the new AI Reimagine feature that can repurpose your photos into a variety of styles including oil painting, watercolor, cartoon, 3D cartoon, felted doll, Van Gogh, and Picasso, just to name a few. It allows you to create new and unique AI-generated photos for your social media accounts or just to play around with friends.
Performance
Last, and not least, is performance. Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset coupled with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Which was more than enough to handle basic tasks and even some of the heavier mobile games like Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact.

AI also at play here though with AI HyperBoost aiding the hardware when you get into your gaming sessions. It does so through algorithms to help with frame stabilization and temperature control.
Yes, there are features for those that are also looking for a gaming device. I can’t forget that the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G allowed for long gaming sessions thanks to the 5800mAh battery which also tops up with the 80W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology.
These are just some of the highlights that I enjoyed on the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G. These are roughly the same as the rest of the Reno13 series 5G with some changes to features like the camera and chipset.
We also released our full review of the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G last January. You can check that here.

Ram found his love and appreciation for writing in 2015 having started in the gaming and esports sphere for GG Network. He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
