It has been a while since realme announced the realme 14 Pro+ 5G. While we are still waiting for the official pricing of realme’s latest device, we’ve seen how its cameras redefine what midrange devices can do.

Last week, we were in Europe for MWC 2025 to witness the latest announcements from various techology and mobile brands. We also witnessed a few announcements from various brands, especially realme, about the advancements and concepts in camera technology on smartphones. While in Europe, it was also the best opportunity to test the cameras of the realme 14 Pro+ 5G, and boy was I impressed with its performance.
In this article, allow me to share with you some photos I took and tell you my thoughts about its camera performance. Of course, while we find the phone excellent in terms of photography, it also shares a few quirks and issues that we believe that we should also share that we hope realme can quickly address to further improve the phone’s performance.
Triple Sony Camera System
There is a reason why the realme 14 Pro+ 5G uses 3 cameras powered by Sony’s sensors. To be more specific, the phone uses a 50MP Sony IMX896 OIS camera, a 50MP Sony IMX882 3x Periscope Camera, and an 8MP Sony IMX355 Wide Angle Camera. These sensors work hand in hand to push the camera to its optimal performance, and produce photos worth keeping and sharing via social media or even for print.

Each sensor, moreover, has its specific uses making its camera system like a swiss knife in terms of photography: one that makes it perfect for night photography, another one for zoom photography, and another one for wide angle photography.
While this is the case, don’t confuse each sensor to be exclusive to a single scenario. For instance, while the Sony IMX896 is perfect for night photography, its function extends to giving the ability to produce sharp and clear photos even in dimly lit environments. This works even on portrait photos.
The Sony IMX882, on the other hand, helps in longer-ranged zoom photography. More so, this helps in various scenarios as well as it comes equipped with OIS as well. This compensates for minute shakes when shooting photos, giving you clearer shots overall.

Lastly, the 8MP Wide Angle Camera, is great for landscape shots, but you can also imagine how useful it is for Gen Z shots using its rear cameras at .5x zoom or equivalent to 112-degree FOV.
Barcelona, Spain
From eating steak and paella to visiting the magnificent Sagrada de Familia Basilica, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G excelled in both portrait, food, and landscape photography.
When were arrived in Spain, realme greeted us with sumptuous dinner at Lomo Alto, a restaurant famous for their dry-aged steak. As it was a dinner, I expected the place to be dimly lit. It was a great time to take some sample portrait and food shots using the phone.
There are a few things you need to know about this photo of a medium rare steak being carved. This was shot from 3 feet away using auto mode. I usually use Portrait mode even when shooting food. This usually crunches the available sensors to its limit; and while it works better when the sensors see people, it helps preserves certain color better than just using automatic mode with AI. However, this time, I let the camera’s AI do its thing to compute for the correct settings for the shot.

Here are a few portrait photos that we took inside the restaurant. When shooting portrait, the phone has 3 zoom options – 1x, 2x, and 3x. You can also change the aperture from f/1.4 to f/16 in varying increments. Pair this with its MagicGlow Triple Flash system, and you get a camera that is able to preserve the right skin tone color for your portrait shots.

The phone is also perfectly primed for party shots and concerts. Colors are well preserved with minimal noise; plus you can also zoom up to 120x. We were invited to realme’s launch party at Downtown Bar, Barcelona. Here are a few shots I took at the venue.

I purposely brought the realme 14 Pro+ 5G with me when we visited Sagrada de Familia Basilica as I thought that it would be perfect for landscape photography. Needless to say, it did not disappoint; and it was the best way to capture the magnificent of the towering columns of the iconic church designed by Antoni Gaudi.

Rome, Italy
After 6 days in Barcelona, my wife and I thought that it would best to visit Rome, Italy for 3 days to see the Vatican at both night and day. From iconic landscapes to holy places, Rome is a beautiful city and we managed to take photos of some of its historic places and buildings.

My wife and I walked from our hotel to Castel Sant’Angelo. It’s a circular, 2nd-century castle that houses painting collections. Below is a photo of it via Ponte Sant’Angelo.

Here’s another photo of Tiber River, which is just beside the castle.
Just a few meters from Castel Sant’Angelo is Via dela Conciliazone, which is one of the best places to see the towering St. Peter’s Basilica. My wife and I walked along this path until we reach Piazza Papa Pio XII, and then to the Vatican Obelisk.

The Vatican is magnificent at night.

The following day, we made our way to some of the other places in Rome. Here are some photos of the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Egpytian Obelisk.

Paris, France
After 3 days in Rome, we thought that it was time to move to another country – Paris, the home of the beautiful Eiffel Tower, Arc di Triomphe, Sacre Cour, and Versailles Palace.
In Paris, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G continued to impress with its camera capabilities. The city’s iconic landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, were captured with stunning clarity and vibrant colors as seen in the photos below.

The phone’s ability to handle low-light conditions was particularly obvious when shooting at the famous collections inside Versailles Palace. The MagicGlow Triple Flash system proved invaluable in balancing the light and shadows, ensuring that the collection’s intricate details were preserved.

Of course, we had to test its portrait capabilities at Sacre Cour and Eiffel Tower, which definitely did not disappoint.
Cameras are great, and it can still be better
The realme 14 Pro+ 5G’s camera system is undoubtedly one of its strongest features. Whether capturing portraits, landscapes, or night scenes, the phone consistently delivers high-quality images with impressive detail and color accuracy. The combination of Sony sensors and advanced features like the MagicGlow Triple Flash system makes it a formidable choice for photography enthusiasts.

However, there are a few areas where realme could improve. The processing time for photos can be a bit slow, and while the AI enhancements are generally effective, the color tone and temperature are somewhat inconsistent. A firmware update could help refine these aspects and make the camera experience even more seamless.
When is this even going to be available?

The realme 14 Series is set to launch in the Philippines officially this March 20. Stay tuned for more updates and pricing on the said date. Of course, we will be publishing our full review as well, so check that out as well.
