Gaming enthusiasts should start saving their gold coins, as the Nintendo Switch 2 may come with a hefty price tag. Industry analysts predict that the next-gen system could sell for around USD 400 or USD 500, potentially reaching a PlayStation 5-level price.
Switch 2 Rumored Price Tag
Several analysts have weighed in on the expected price. Hideki Yasuda, an analyst for Toyo Securities, estimates the Switch 2’s chip will cost between USD 130 – 150, compared to the original Switch’s NVIDIA chip at USD 80 per unit. Yasuda suggests a price tag of USD 499 wouldn’t be surprising. Other analysts, including Serkan Toto, Yijia Zhai of UBS, and Robin Zhu of Sanford C Bernstein, believe Nintendo will aim for a slightly lower price of USD 399, though external factors like US tariffs could influence the final cost.

Outside of pricing, Zhu anticipates a June launch for the Switch 2. Nintendo is expected to have a first-day inventory of 6 million to 8 million units, potentially marking the biggest console launch ever. This would surpass the original Switch, which sold 2.7 million units in its first month, and the recent PlayStation launches, which amassed 4.5 million units in their first month. Macquarie Capital analyst Hiroshi Yamashina forecasts 20 million units will be sold by the end of the console’s first year.

A Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2, where more details about the Switch 2 are expected to be revealed.
