Design and Build Quality
The Xiaomi Pad 7 boasts a premium aluminum alloy construction that feels sturdy and elegant. Its metallic matte finish not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also minimizes fingerprints and smudges.
The tablet is well-designed for usability, featuring balanced bezels that ensure a comfortable grip during use. When held in landscape mode, the volume button is conveniently located at the top left, while the power button is on the left side—both easily accessible.
Adding to its multimedia capabilities are quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support, delivering immersive sound quality.
Performance
The Xiaomi Pad 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor. While it falls short of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 found in its Pro sibling, it still delivers impressive performance across various tasks. Available in configurations of either 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, multitasking is seamless on this tablet. Storage options include 128GB or 256GB; however, the base storage feels inadequate for users with extensive content libraries.
The tablet also does well in gaming, being able to handle Honor of Kings on Ultra FPS and even Honkai: Star Rail at its highest preset without issues.
Stress tests also reveal stable performance even under heavy loads, showcasing its reliability for demanding applications. File transfers are also fast thanks to USB-C with USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds.
Camera
While you only get a 13MP rear camera, the Xiaomi Pad 7’s imaging capabilities punch well above what is usually expected from a tablet. Photos offer good levels of detail and sharpness. The rear camera can even record 4K video at 30fps.
The 8MP front camera isn’t exactly the best in its class, but it’s enough for social media updates and also for online meetings.
Display and Multimedia
The Xiaomi Pad 7 features an impressive 11.2-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 3.2k and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. While the higher refresh rate ensures smooth navigation and scrolling, it may not be noticeably better than standard 120Hz displays for most users. The inclusion of Dolby Vision enhances visual quality during media playback.
Its IPS panel may not have the deep blacks and vivid colors of AMOLED screens, but it’s still an excellent display for media consumption and gaming. Peak brightness is up to 800 nits, making it usable outdoors but not exceptional under direct sunlight.
Audio performance shines with its quad speaker setup featuring Dolby Atmos support. The speakers deliver clear vocals, sparkling treble, and decent low-end frequencies— enough for personal use.
Software
The Xiaomi Pad 7 runs on the new HyperOS 2 layered over Android 15, bringing notable improvements in performance and security while minimizing clutter compared to its old skin, MIUI.
AI-powered tools like voice recognition using the Recorder app work reliably, while AI Art generation, which lets you generate an image based on a sketch and text prompts, as well as proofreading text add versatility to its functionality.
Some features need a bit of refinement, but they work most of the time. My only gripe is that these aren’t really presented with step-by-step instructions that are readily available.
Multitasking is done through floating windows and Workstation Mode, which allows apps to be opened in adjustable windows for a desktop-like experience. While these features are promising, their implementation could be refined further.
HyperOS also includes a minimal number of pre-installed apps—a welcome change that ensures a cleaner user experience.
You also get multi-device interconnectivity features, such as being able to open apps, reply to notifications, and basically control another device using the Xiaomi Pad 7. You can take photos using the other device and immediately use them as attachments to notes.
Battery and Charging
Equipped with an 8,850mAh battery, the Xiaomi Pad 7 delivers excellent endurance. It scored approximately 11.5 hours in PCMark’s Work benchmark that simulates tasks like photo editing and web browsing.
Charging is quick when paired with a compatible charger; using a 120W charger allowed the device to go from around 10% to full charge in just about an hour and a half.
Accessories
The Xiaomi Pad 7 supports accessories like the Focus Keyboard and Focus Pen that enhance productivity further.
Focus Keyboard: This accessory allows adjustable viewing angles for better ergonomics during use. The keyboard itself offers comfortable typing experience despite its slightly small touchpad.
Focus Pen: Designed with two multifunctional buttons, this stylus supports advanced features such as remote shutter control or brush selection in creative apps like Mi Canvas. It boasts impressive responsiveness with 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and low latency (3ms), making it suitable for drawing or note-taking.
Verdict
For a starting price of PHP 19,999, the Xiaomi Pad 7 stands out as one of the most capable Android tablets available today. It’s got premium build quality, excellent performance, good multimedia capabilities, reliable battery life, and useful AI-driven software features—all at an accessible price point.
While there are areas where it could improve—such as offering AMOLED displays or larger base storage—the overall package is compelling enough for most users seeking productivity or entertainment on-the-go.
