President Marcos has empowered the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) to issue Digital Nomad Visas for foreign nationals wishing to work remotely while in the Philippines temporarily.
DFA Authorized to Issue Digital Nomad Visas
In an effort to enhance tourism and economic growth, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Foreign Affairs to implement Digital Nomad Visas. These visas, authorized by Executive Order 86 (signed April 24), will allow foreign nationals to temporarily live and work remotely in the Philippines.

To expand on what this means, the Philippines is now one of approximately 50 countries offering digital nomad visas. These specialized visas aim to attract skilled remote workers who can contribute to the local economy by allowing them to live and work legally while employed abroad.
Moreover, these visas typically offer longer stays than tourist visas (six months to several years) and often include specific requirements like health insurance, minimum income, and a clean criminal record. According to FXC Intelligence, 44 such programs currently exist across various regions globally.
