According to the tipster, Qualcomm is poised to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 by the end of September this year, with the first devices powered by it expected to hit the market in October. Xiaomi’s highly anticipated 16 and 16 Pro are rumored to be among the initial smartphones to feature this powerhouse chipset.

Early reports suggest significant performance enhancements in the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The CPU is tipped to boast a base frequency of 4.4GHz, a slight increase from its predecessor’s 4.32GHz.
Moreover, it features a second-generation custom CPU architecture and a boosted GPU dedicated cache, jumping from 12MB to 16MB, potentially delivering a 30% overall performance gain.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, is expected to improve performance and reduce power consumption by 4% and 9% compared to the previous generation. The new SME instruction set is expected to improve multimedia and graphics processing efficiency. Other flagship devices, including the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra, and OPPO Find X9 Ultra, are also expected to adopt this chip.
