Qualcomm is reportedly developing a new smartphone chipset, the SM8845, to bridge the gap between the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Moreover, leaks from Digital Chat Station suggest this mid-tier flagship processor aims to bring near-top-tier performance to more affordable, performance-centric phones in 2025.

This move follows Qualcomm’s recent rebranding, positioning the 8 Elite as its ultimate offering. The SM8845 is rumored to utilize TSMC’s N3P 3nm process and feature Oryon CPU cores, with a configuration of two prime and six performance cores, similar to the 8 Elite but potentially with slightly lower peak performance.

While a specific launch date remains unknown, a potential autumn release alongside the 8 Elite 2 is speculated. GPU details are currently unavailable. This strategic addition could expand access to high-end features for sub-brands, challenging the exclusivity of flagship performance to premium devices. However, with limited official information, skepticism remains, and the final specifications may vary. If accurate, the SM8845 could redefine value in the Android market by late 2025.
