We generally decided to release to not often update our build guides for 2021 as prices have become unstable due to the supply shortage and COVID-19 pandemic. But as we start to recover with the help of vaccines, the industry has been recovering as we reach much more stable prices albeit still expensive. Entry-level and mid-range components are much more stable and for that reason, we have decided to upgrade our existing Php 50K Gaming PC Build last May 2021 to a Php 55k Gaming PC with upgradability in mind in case prices might go down anytime soon.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
Even with the latest Ryzen 5000 series and Intel 12th gen alderlake CPUs, there’s still no CPU released from both brands that replace the Ryzen 5 3600’s price level making it still one of the best-price-to-performance CPUs especially when you’re on a budget. As seen on our past 50k pesos gaming PC build, the Ryzen 5 3600 can handle most triple-A titles at high settings with decent framerates.
Alternative: The Ryzen 5 5600X is a more than capable processor especially if you’re leaning towards more intensive workloads such as video editing, simulations, or rendering. The Php 5,000 to 7,000 premium can help your whole rig last much longer without the need for upgrades. For team blue, the Intel Core i5 11600K is a good alternative though you would also need to switch out your motherboard for a compatible one that fits your budget.
Motherboard: ASRock B550 PG Riptide
Unlike our previous build guides, we’ve gone with a full-sized ATX motherboard this time around for additional connectivity and upgradability as we also need to get an ATX case that will surely fit any motherboard size with AIO cooling support – more on that later. We’ve been ASRock motherboards for most of our build guides for the sole reason of them mostly having a very competitive price to performance ratio. The ASRock PG Riptide series is a great mid-range board especially if you don’t’ want to miss out on connectivity as well as overclocking.
Alternative: The ASRock B550 Steel Legend has been our go-to recommendation since the launch of the motherboard and the Ryzen 5000 series. The B450 Steel Legend is also a cheaper alternative though you might be losing some bandwidth with a lower chipset.
Memory: OCPC X3 Xtreme Black Label RGB 16GB 3200MHz
OCPC has been available for quite some time but hasn’t been getting that much credit due to the timing of the covid-19 pandemic. The OCPC X3 Xtreme Black Label RGB is one of the sleek and premium-looking memory modules in the market albeit it doesn’t cost as much. The price difference for 3600Mhz vs a 3200Mhz kit isn’t worth it if you’re aiming to only play games but be my guest if you happen to find some good deals.
Alternative: As mentioned earlier, a 3600Mhz kit is a great upgrade if you’re looking to do some productivity-related tasks aside from gaming. A cheaper alternative would be non-RGB variants to save you some bucks without losing any performance – provided you’re looking at the same spec memory.
GPU: ASRock RX 6600 Challenger
There’s no clear timeline on when will the GPU prices stabilize as long as the industry is facing a supply shortage on raw materials as well as the stable cryptocurrency market. That said, we’ve decided to settle with the current stable albeit still expensive prices and just publish a new build guide should prices revert to normal. For the Php 50k budget, our go-to GPU was the RTX 2060 but modern games such as Battlefield V, Far Cry 6 and other upcoming titles take advantage of the latest technologies such as ray tracing and variable supersampling. The major adoption of these features prompted us that it’s time to get a newer GPU in or build guides starting with this one with the RX 6600 priced at Php 24,995. It’s around the same price as an RTX 2060 but definitely more feature-packed and will last you for several years with its 8GB VRAM.
Alternative: The second-hand market might be a good option considering the tight supply of graphics cards. Or if you happen to read this in the future where the prices are back to normal, then go for an RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 Ti instead as the Php 25,000 budget should land you to the RTX 3060.
Storage: OCPC 512GB SATA SSD
Storage is where we get flexible in most of our builds as we usually select either the cheapest SATA or NVMe drive to fit the budget. In this case, we opted for the 512GB version of the OCPC SATA SSD instead of an NVMe to save up on cost as SSDs are also facing supply shortages and price hikes. The user may then simply upgrade to an NVME SSD later down the road to make it a boot drive for faster access times.
Alternative: For a little more, you can jump to a 512GB NVMe drive to also save you the hassle of cable management for the SATA power and SATA data cable. Moreover, a 1TB hard drive is also a decent option if you’re really want to save up. There’s also a 240/256GB SSD + 1TB HDD combination to get that fast SSD boot drive and large storage for games.
PSU: Deepcool DQ 750W Gold PowerSupply
We do always remind our readers to not skimp on their power supply for safety purposes as a faulty power supply can not only destroy the PC components but also your home. For this build, we opted for a 750W GOLD PSU in the form of the DeepCool DQ 750M-V2L mainly for upgradability. 750W is the minimum requirement for RTX 3080 and above power supply when paired with either a Ryzen 7 or Intel Core i7 and above processor. Moreover, having a larger headroom for your power supply will result in better efficiency with the 80+ GOLD efficiency curve.
Alternative: For this build, a 500W Bronze power supply is more than enough but we do recommend at least a 650W power supply for better efficiency and more capacity should you upgrade to an RX 6700 XT or RTX 3070.
Case: DeepCool Matrexx 55 Mesh
Like our Power Supply choice, we opted for an above-average case for upgradability mainly for larger-sized graphics cards, more storage, and water cooling support. The DeepCool Matrexx 55 Mesh supports most AIOs in either top or front-mounted configuration. The separate PSU chamber makes the overall look small as well as gives plenty of room for you to hide your cables. It also has a cutout for you to flex your not so Korean rated PSU.
Alternative: Any ATX case that could fit your budget, just be mindful of the clearance if you want to upgrade later on.
55,000 Peso Gaming PC Benchmarks
We used CapFrameX version 1.6.6 as our benchmarking tool. AMD Radeon Adrenalin 20.10.2 drivers were also installed. Instead of our usual three-run average benchmark for our reviews, we only ran each game once and showed a screenshot of the analysis tab on CapFrameX. The main graph shows the frame times in the 60-second run while the lower left graph shows the Average FPS, 5% FPS, and 1% FPS.
COUNTER-STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE
Counter Strike Strike: Global Offensive aka CSGO is a 10-year old first-person shooter title that’s still widely popular despite its old Source Engine. CS:GO is a great game to test out CPU performance as the game is heavily CPU-dependent like any other FPS title. Our CS:GO benchmark process uses ULLETICAL’s FPS Benchmark workshop mod to measure the hardware’s performance.
DOTA 2
Most gamers play at least one of the following free-to-play titles: League of Legends, CS: GO, Dota 2, and/or Fortnite. Dota 2 is a good representation of the F2P titles as it is the most demanding game in the spectrum. The benchmark will give you an idea of the graphic card’s relative performance on other lesser demanding titles. Our benchmark sequence is based on a replay of OG vs. Liquid in the TI9 grand finals from the team fight that happened from 28:30 to 29:30.
Far Cry 5 & Far Cry 6
FarCry 5 is an FPS game published by Ubisoft and uses the Dunia engine. It heavily relies on and takes advantage of DirectX 11 to render a realistic environment that makes it taxing to both the CPU and GPU. Far Cry 6 is the latest installment in the franchise which utilizes DirectX 12 to run the virtual world of Yara.
Rainbow Six Siege
Rainbow Six Seige is one of the few popular AAA games that’s still popular in 2021 due to its competitive gameplay mechanics. R6S uses the AnvilNext game engine, which the game’s publisher, Ubisoft, developed. As of writing, Rainbow Six Siege is currently the most popular Tom Clancy title beating out Wildlands, Breakpoint and even, Division 2.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the most hyped game of 2020. Developed by CD Projekt Red, the dystopian open-world, action-adventure RPG sports is one of the most demanding titles to date. Cyberpunk 2077 also supports three Ray Tracing settings as well as DLSS which makes the game a great tool to measure Ray tracing performance for both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.
Shadow of The Tomb Raider
Shadow of The Tomb Raider or SOTR is the latest installment of the Lara Croft Tomb Raider franchise. Developed by Square Enix, SOTR uses the Foundation engine and is further enhanced by Eidos Montreal. SOTR is also one of the first games to come out with Ray Tracing and DLSS support.
Metro Exodus
Metro Exodus is the third Metro game trilogy based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels. The game is a first-person shooter with survival horror and stealth elements. The post-apocalyptic game uses 4A Engine by 4A games. Released last 2019, Metro Exodus remains to be one of the most graphically pleasing and demanding games that’s popular to date.
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the latest franchise installment from Ubisoft. It’s by far the most popular and stable Assassin’s Creed title since AC IV: Black Flag. It uses the AnvilNext 2.0 game engine, an updated version of Rainbow Six Siege’s game engine, and uses the DirectX 12 API.
F1 2020
F1 2020 is the official video game of the 2020 Formula 1 and Formula 2 championships developed by Codemasters. F1 2020 is the twelfth installment in the franchise and uses the Ego Engine 3.0. F1 2020 is a good representation of racing games thanks to its realistic graphics and fairly demanding spec requirements.
HORIZON ZERO DAWN
Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the most popular console-port RPG developed by Guerilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Horizon Zero Dawn is a multi-award-winning action RPG, and its popularity resulted in an exclusive Complete Edition game bundle in Steam.
