OmniVision has just launched its first-generation 200MP image sensor for smartphones, the OVB0B at CES 2022. The sensor has an individual pixel of 0.61 µm a size of 1/1.28-inches as well as unique 4×4 pixel binning.
The new sensor is rated for 12.5MP recording with pixels scaled up to 2.44 µm. This is said to lead to high-quality 4K or 2K video even in low light.
The OVB0B also supports 50MP video at 24 fps and 8K video at 30fps. Additionally, it is rated for the company’s latest PureCel Plus-S technology and quad PD for its auto-focus properties.
The new sensor is the second 200MP sensor unveiled with the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensor unveiled in September being the first one.
Samsung is said to launch its first 200MP device by as early as 2023. However, OmniVision didn’t mention when its first generation 200MP sensor will be made available but it is now available for order on its website.
