Google just released the first Developer Preview yesterday for Android 13 showing some design features and functions. It seems that Google is keeping its tradition of giving codenames to new OS’ based on dessert names by giving an Italian dessert codename to Android 13.
The codename of Android 13 has been confirmed to be “Tiramisu” which is a coffee-flavored Italian dessert. Google stopped using a dessert name when it released Android 10 but this returned for Android 11 with the codename Red Velvet Cake and Android 12 the codename Snow Cone.
Meanwhile, some of the highlights of Android Tiramisu are dynamic theming with better integration with 3rd party apps and also some tweaks in security and permission.
A new photo picker lets you share photos and videos in your local storage and google drive without the app needing permission for all of your photos. This though will not be exclusive for Android 13 users but will also trickle down to Android 11 and above.
