New Samsung Patent Reveals Rollable Device with Transparent Panel

A new patent from Samsung was posted on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) website. The patent showed a smartphone that uses a rolling or pulling mechanism instead of a folding mechanism.

Additionally, it shows a display that can be extended at the top. The display extension, based on the sketches, isn’t surrounded by housing. Doing so should lead to part of the panel being transparent, according to the patent.

Samsung also proposed a display technology in a patent application that should be suitable for use in mixed reality. An example of this is AR map navigation as shown in the patent.

It is uncertain if these are being worked on by the company as a concept or will actually debut on a smartphone.
