vivo has confirmed that the vivo X80 will debut the Sony IMX866 RBW sensor. The new series will also feature the vivo V1+ ISP and the Dimensity 9000 or a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
The Sony IMX866 is the successor to the IMX766 which was used in the vivo X70 series. The IMX866 switches to an RGBW filter that captures more light and is supported by the custom image processing algorithms in the V1+ ISP.
As far as size goes, the new sensor is built on a 1/1.5” optical format compared to the 1/1.56” its predecessor.
The vivo X80 series will also feature gimbal stabilization on one of its cameras. Meanwhile, another camera will have an advanced 7-element lens. All the cameras will feature Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating.
The teaser images also mention a 1/1.3” Samsung GNV sensor with the V signifying a custom variant built for vivo. The Samsung GNV sensor is believed to be the main sensor of the X80 Pro+, while the X80 Pro will use the Sony IMX866 sensor.
The vivo X80 series will be launched on April 25. So the wait isn’t too long before we get the rundown on the new X-series devices.
