Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 along with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The 7 Gen 1 is built on the 4nm process and is the first 7-series chipset to feature a dedicated AI Engine, up to 200MP photo capture, and Android Ready SE.
The new chipset features a Kryo CPU cluster clock at up to 2.4GHz with an Adreno 662 GPU. Qualcomm says that the new chip offers 20% better graphics than the Snapdragon 778G with AI tasks improved to 30% better.
Meanwhile, the Adreno Frame Motion Engine is said to double framerates in games while sharing the same power consumption as its predecessor.
The 7 Gen 1 supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It is also equipped with a Snapdragon X62 5G modem that is capable of 4.4Gbps download speeds with dual standby 5G connectivity. Additionally, the chipset supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 with Snapdragon Sound and aptX support.
The chipset also has a Qualcomm Spectra triple ISP that offers support for up to 200MP photo capture and 4K HDR video recording. It also supports 10-bit HEIC photo capture and HEVC video recording. Moreover, it has optimal security for digital keys and wallets thanks to Android SE and Trusted Management Engine.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is expected to debut on the OPPO Reno8 Pro which will be launched on May 23.
