Canon has just introduced the Canon EOS R7 and R10, the latest cameras in the company’s mirrorless R-series cameras. The two new members are the first to feature the company’s APS-C crop sensors compared to the full-frame sensors on the previous models in the series.
The two new cameras feature 7.0 stops digital image stabilization and the ability to record indefinitely without a 30-minute limit. Moreover, they feature a manual AF/MF switch on the body.
Canon EOS R10
The EOS R10 is the entry-level model in the series with a 24.2MP AP-S CMOS sensor coupled with a DIGIC X processor. The camera is capable of shooting 15fps burst capture with the mechanical shutter and 23fps with the electronic shutter.
Additionally, it has a revamped autofocus system that can now track people, animals, and vehicles. The company has also added new scene modes like a focus stacking mode and a panorama mode.
The camera is able to shoot 4K video at 30fps and 4k video at 60fps with a 1.56x crop. Moreover, there’s an option for 10-bit 4:2:2 HDR PQ recording but has no option for C-Log 3.
The EOS T10 also features a 3-inch OLED EVF display with an articulating touchscreen with a 1.04M-dot resolution. As far as ports go, it has USB-C connectivity with USB-PD charging, micro HDMI, and a microphone jack. It has a slot under the battery cover for a UHS-II SD card.
Canon EOS R7
The Canon EOS R7, on the other hand, is equipped with a 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor. It is also accompanied by the DIGIC X processor with the same capabilities like 15fps burst with the mechanical shutter and 30fps with the electronic shutter as the R10.
The EOS R7 can capture 4K video 30fps full-width supersampled or 4K 60fps with line-skipped full-width or 1.81x crop. It includes C-Log 3 recording though.
The camera has in-body image stabilization and dust and moisture resistance. It also has a 1.62-dot LCD display on the back and dual UHS-II SD card slots on the side. Additionally, it has a larger LP-E6NH battery compared to the R10 but doesn’t feature flash which the R10 does.
New RF-S lenses
The company also introduced two new RF-S lenses – RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM and RF-S18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM. The new lenses are optimized for smaller sensor sizes.
They have a 1.6x crop factor when used with an APS-C sensor. Despite this though, you can still use the lenses on any R-series camera.
Canon EOS R7 and R10 pricing and availability
The Canon EOS R10 is priced at:
- USD 980 – body-only
- USD 1,099 – with RF-S18-45mm lens
- USD 1,379 – with RF-S18-150mm lens
Meanwhile, the Canon EOS R7 is available for:
- USD 1,499 – body-only
- USD 1,899 – with RF-S18-150mm
The RF-S18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM will sell for USD 300, while the RF-S18-150mm F.35-6.3 IS STM for USD 479.
