A Sony 100MP sensor might be coming our way soon. According to a report from Digital Chat Station (DCS), the sensor will be made for premium mid-range phones instead of flagship models.
This sensor is said to belong to the Sony IMX8 series of lenses which was introduced with the unveiling of the IMX800 and was used in the HONOR 70 Series.
Moreover, DCS added a report regarding the IMX9 series. The tipster said that this series will be more capable and may be able to compete with Samsung which is already promoting its 200MP HP1 sensor.
Samsung is also said to be working on a sensor that is larger than the GN2 which is a 1/1.12-inch sensor. However, Sony already has a 1-inch sensor found in the Xperia Pro-I.
