Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei confirmed recently that the Nothing phone (1) will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.
According to Nothing, the chipset is custom tuned for the phone (1). But the + in the chipset comes from the support for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
Pei mentioned in an interview said a lot about why the company opted for the premium mid-range chipset. This includes “phones have reached a point of good enough performance for general tasks and more powerful chips have diminishing returns”.
The device will be introduced on July 12 so we expect more specs and features to be revealed in the coming days.
