Lawmaker, Q.C. Rep. Patrick Michael Vargas, files a Bill in the House of Representatives that will make teaching “Scam Prevention” or awareness mandatory to high school students.
“Amid the pandemic, the country’s Anti-Money Laundering Council has received a 57 percent increase of reports of suspicious transactions indicating a surge in financial scams,” Vargas stated.
“It is, therefore, vital for schools to promote antiscam awareness throughout society as well as equip students with the knowledge where they can report cases once they encounter incidents of potential fraud or scam,” he added.
Scam Prevention Education
The Rep’s Bill HB 4311 aims to protect senior HS students from both public and private schools from scammers and fraudulent activities and to empower the current generation of students against these malicious entities.
If the bill is approved it will then push the Department of Education to collaborate with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, PNP, NBI, and other agencies to help generate a proper curriculum for the students.
