According to reports, YouTube is looking to include YouTube Shorts in the Partner Program soon, making monetization available for creators of the brand’s answer to TikTok.
YouTube Shorts Monetization and More
The YouTube Partner Program has paid out to creators for many years. To be eligible for the Program, a creator will need at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours for a year. Additionally, Shorts creators will need 10 million views within 90 days.
YouTube is also said to introduce new options to help creators monetize their content outside of the Partner Program. Among these include paid channel memberships and “Super Thanks” tipping. The requirements for these though have not been disclosed as of writing this.
Despite the monetization of YouTube Shorts being relatively similar to YouTube itself, payouts for the former will be different. The split for Shorts will be 55% for YouTube and 45% for creators. For regular YouTube videos, this is flipped, 45% for YouTube and 55% for creators.
