Google recently announced that it will provide 39,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships with an aim of equipping Filipino students and jobseekers from underserved communities with job-ready skills, in order to help them land career opportunities in high-demand industries like IT.
What are Google Career Certificates
Google Career Certificates provides a suite of flexible online training programs on Coursera.org. Built and taught by Google, these are designed to equip learners with digital skills within 3 to 6 months. Currently, these are the options – IT Support, UX Design, Data Analytics, and Project Management.

Google will work closely with local partners as well as government stakeholders including the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Information and Communications Technology to distribute the scholarships. These partners will nominate qualified recipients and track the progress of the scholars.

Google Career Certificates are available for everyone aged 18 and above and require no previous degree or experience. By providing scholarships to these certificates, Google aims to establish learning and economic opportunities for people in underserved communities which include low-income and vocational students as well as college dropouts among others.
