Leica has just launched the Leica Leitz Phone 2 in Japan. This is the clear successor to the Leitz Phone 1 introduced last year and shares much of its hardware with the Sharp Aquos R7.
The main highlight of the Leitz Phone 2 is the main rear sensor which is a 47.2MP camera with a 1-inch sensor. The sensor is co-developed by Sharp and Leica with a seven-element Leica Summicron lens. Additionally, it has an f/1.9 aperture and a 19mm focal length. Next to the main camera is a 1.9MP depth lens.
The device has metallic corrugated sides and a simple Leitz branding around the back. It also comes with a metal cap with the Letiz branding to cover the rear camera module.
The device is built around a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ Pro IGZO OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate.
It is no slouch under the hood either with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 powering it coupled with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
