Apple is looking to build thinner laptops without a visible touchpad according to a newly spotted patent.
Apple’s giant trackpad patent
The patent, which the Cupertino-based company calls “Enclosure with locally flexible regions”, provides the sensors, which work just below the trackpad of a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.
The entire palm rest may be used as a touchpad, while vibration motors provide haptic feedback without the need for the case to move when you click. This tech, according to the patent application, will cause a reduction in height resulting in a thinner laptop.
Additionally, to avoid confusion, the entire surface will respond to touch which may sport a glass surface that may allow icons to be overlaid and may have the option to be illuminated if needed.
As of now, this is all the information available and there has been no news that can confirm if these kinds of laptops from Apple will be revealed.
