Valve has just released a massive update for the Steam desktop client which freshens up its design. This includes a change in dialog boxes, fonts, menus, colors, and more.
New Steam Look
The new client, according to the announcement is rebuilt on a new framework. This is said to make it easier to ship updates across the different platforms including mobile, desktop, Big Picture, and the Steam Deck.
Among those updates include the notifications which now only notify you if there are actually unread ones. Additionally, Valve overhauled the Steam Overlay (it shows up when you press Shift+Tab while running the game) which now allows you to access features like chat or a web browser.
If you easily get distracted with your games, you can now also create notes for different games. These notes can also be pinned to your screen, so you can see these while playing the game to keep you on track of your goals for your gaming session. Notes are saved on the cloud so you have access to them even if you switch devices.
The latest client update will also be rolled out on macOS and Linux.
