Discord is set to expand its monetization efforts to help users earn faster. These options include better server subscriptions by adding subscription tiers and turning servers into storefronts.
Discord Microtransactions and More
Among these added monetization features include “media channels,” a beta feature for hosting subscriber-only content like exclusive memes and wallpapers. This could lead to creators posting subscriber-only illustrations, similar to Patreon, as part of new revenue streams.
Here are other things that the chat app is developing:
- Tier Templates – For those that just want to set up the Subscription Tiers, these allow you to get Subscriptions set up quick (USD 3.99, USD 4.99, USD 7.99, and USD 9.99)
- Downloadables – One-time purchasable digital products like a gaming guide, digital wallpaper, or art or subscriptions sold by server owners. These will be accessed through Server Shops
- Server Shops – A single home for server owners to sell Server Subscriptions, Downloadables, and Premium Roles
For now, we still can’t see what these plans will do for the chat app and hopefully, this pushes the community to make Discord a better and more enjoyable place for everyone.
