Fairphone has officially launched the Fairphone 5, the latest member of its long-lasting devices. The device comes with 5 years of warranty and at least software and security updates until 2031. Additionally, it comes with an easy-repair design.
Fairphone 5
Unique to Fairphone 5 is its design to be easily repaired with just a Phillips head screwdriver and the modules you need to repair. These include the OLED display, the rear and front cameras, the USB port, and the battery. The modules themselves are available from Fairphone and its partners.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the 6nm Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset. This SoC is an industrial chipset with an Adreno 642L GPU and a 1+3+4 core setup. This roughly compares to the Snapdragon 778G chipset.
It supports dual SIM – one physical and the other an eSIM. The device supports Wi-Fi 6E (6GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
The device is the first from the company a high refresh rate at 90Hz and it also supports 30W fast charging.
However, the device comes in a box that only includes the phone itself and a quick start guide, there is no charging adapter or cable included.
