Xiaomi CEO and Founder Lei Jun has just introduced the company’s new OS, HyperOS on X (formerly Twitter). This comes after reports of the company introducing a new OS reportedly dubbed MiOS. Clearly, the previous reports weren’t accurate with the name, but a replacement of MIUI was indeed correct.

HyperOS, according to Lei Jun, started in 2017 as an effort to unify all devices and applications across the company’s vast ecosystem. The new OS is a combination of Android and Xiaomi’s own Vela OS.
It seems like the new OS will be implemented solely in China for now. However, Jun has hinted that it could be introduced globally in the future. One country that could get it is India with Xiaomi India executives retweeting Lei Jun on the announcement.
Despite the announcement, the company has yet to reveal the features and how it differs from MIUI. I expect to learn more either when it launches alongside the Xiaomi 14 series or maybe a bit earlier.
