TikTok has been the target of several bans in other countries because of its alleged suspicious data-gathering.
The Philippines may be the next one to ban the app if the National Security Agency (NSA) proves it guilty of espionage.
TikTok Ban in PH
National Security Adviser Secretary Eduardo Año said that he would push for the ban of the app but only for people working for the government, especially those working in offices involved in national security. He will only ban the app nationwide if further proof of malicious activities is discovered.
Furthermore, Año appointed Assistant Director-General Jonathan Malaya to head the task force involved in investigating TikTok. This is also a part of the National Security Council’s (NSC) assessment of the said app to make sure it is safe for the citizens.
For now, we can only wait for further announcements by the NSA and NSC regarding the app’s future in the country.
