The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER proves to be another flagship graphics card next to the RTX 4090 with its impressive performance all while having a lower price than the outgoing RTX 4080. That said, we have the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER OC GPU that’s priced at Php 89,420, eliminating the supposed “price drop” on the SUPER variant. Let’s see if the premium is worth it.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER
The RTX 4080 SUPER despite being the most powerful in the RTX 40 SUPER series, actually has the least improvements over its non-super counterpart. Compared to the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER’s and RTX 4070 SUPER’s 10% and 20% core count increase over their non-super counterparts, the RTX 4080 SUPER only has a 5% increase over the RTX 4080. However, the RTX 4080 SUPER sports the largest “discount” over its non-super counterpart at an 18% discount compared to the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER’s 12.4% discount.
ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER OC – Unboxing and Overview
ASUS retains its ROG Strix Gaming packaging design on its RTX 4080 SUPER as opposed to most brands having a hue-redesigns to differentiate its GPUs from its non-SUPER counterparts.
You have the standard packaging inclusions of ASUS RTX 40 series GPUs albeit in an ROG Strix theme.
The ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER is equipped with three axial tech fans inside an all-metal cooling shroud with blue and black accents.
The ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER is our largest GPU to date measuring 357.6 x 149.3 x 70.1mm. However, when looking at it on the side, I must commend ASUS for having the side profile of the ROG Strix card look smaller than it seems. There are no protrusions allowing the heatsink to be fully exposed for optimal cooling.
Like the rest of ASUS’ RTX 40 series GPU lineup, the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER has a BIOS switch next to its 12VHPWR connector albeit it’s a bit more difficult to notice and access especially to non-enthusiasts due to the installed full metal backplate. The switch can be accessed underneath and it’s set to Performance profile by default. This is also the profile we used to test the GPU for our benchmarks.
The ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER has a full metal backplate that has a cut-out behind the GPU die as well as to where the PCB ends. The cutout exposes the heatsink acting similar to Nvidia’s flowthrough cooler concept.
It’s baffling to see that ASUS is the only GPU brand to go the extra mile to provide an additional video-out port for a total of 5 video outputs. The ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER has three display port 1.4a ports and two HDMI 2.1a ports that support HDCP 2.3.
As mentioned earlier, the ASUS ROG Strix is our largest RTX 4080 SUPER GPU narrowingly beating our Gigabyte RTX 4080 SUPER AERO OC by 15.6mm in length.
The Republic of Gamers text on the side as well as the edge of the ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER has RGB lighting and can be controlled via the ASUS Armoury Crate software.
