According to leakster Digital Chat Station, three major manufacturers have suspended their foldable smartphone projects.
Foldable Smartphone Projects Suspended
The leakster reveals that the one of the top 5 companies suspended the development of folding screen projects. Moreover, he adds that two companies have suspended the development of small folding projects.
It may seem like these are pretty similar but if you take into consideration that the latter mentions ‘smaller’ form-factor, this may hint at a clamshell-Flip style foldable.
Digital Chat Station didn’t specify which companies these are but there are only a handful of companies in the foldable space. Among these include Samsung, Huawei, HONOR, TECNO Mobile, OPPO, and vivo.
There were previous reports though that suggest that OPPO and vivo have withdrawn from the foldable market. This is said to be due to a decline in the market share in the niche foldable segment last year.
If this is the case, then it could also impact the foldable release of OnePlus which heavily relies on OPPO’s supply chain.
The two brands have yet to release an official statement though, as of writing this. So, you can take this with a grain of salt.
