Guild of Guardians: 5 Things to Love about it if you are into Blockchain Games
Almost 3 years ago, I signed up for a Guild of Guardians account. It is a blockchain-based Mobile RPG developed by Mineloader and published by Immutable. Yes, I am one of the 1 Million people who signed up for an account since it was announced. After eagerly signing up for an account back then, I was thrilled to see its official launch last May 17, 2024.

Here are five standout features that make Guild of Guardians a game worth loving:
Immersive Fantasy World
Guild of Guardians “teleports” players to the world of Elderym, a land once vibrant and thriving but now ravaged by a corrupting force known as the Dread. The game’s rich lore and detailed environments create an immersive experience that draws players into its narrative
As you explore the remains of once-great cities and battle corrupted creatures, the sense of adventure and discovery is palpable. The game’s high-quality graphics and intuitive mechanics – that I will liken to games like Final Fantasy, Dungeon Keeper, and Slay the Spire – further enhance this immersive experience, making every moment spent in Elderym feel like a true virtual adventure.
Strategic Gameplay and Team Building
One of the most engaging aspects of Guild of Guardians is its focus on strategy and team building. Players can assemble a squad of legendary Guardians, each with unique abilities and skills.
The game encourages players to strategically customize and level up their Guardians to create the “ultimate” team. This strategic depth is further highlighted in the challenging dungeon raids, where players must devise winning tactics to conquer increasingly difficult levels and stronger foes. The need to continually evolve strategies and make swift decisions keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.
If you are also familiar with roguelike elements, you will be surprised to know that the developers of Guild of Guardians cleverly integrated such mechanics on the game. This makes it a quite familiar game especially to those who are fans of the genre.
Blockchain Integration and Ownership
Guild of Guardians uses blockchain technology to offer players true ownership of in-game assets. The $GOG token is at the core of the game’s ecosystem, allowing players to earn rewards through leaderboard challenges and in-game activities. These tokens can be used for various purposes, such as web3 crafting systems or buying NFTs in secondary sales.
Other than this, players can purchase, earn, and trade in-game assets as NFTs, which are verified on the blockchain. This integration of blockchain technology not only adds a layer of security and transparency but also allows players to own a piece of their gaming experience and reap benefits from their gameplay.
For casual gamers who are either starting out or have not yet played a blockchain game, you can absolutely play and enjoy this game either on your Android phone or Mac. Certain elements from familiar gacha games can also be seen on Guild of Guardians. It is definitely a must-try, and you can still see yourself playing and enjoying the game even without spending a single dime. In fact, I was even lucky to summon Ennara – a PhP1,100 worth of guardian – using my free Summoning Stones that I got in-game. While this specific character is only available for web2, it can also be ascended into an NFT. Price, of course, would vary on prevailing and current price of the NFT. This is proof that this game can be enjoyed by those who are into web2 and even web3 players.
Social and Guild Features
Guild of Guardians places a strong emphasis on social interaction and community engagement. The game is designed to be highly social, rewarding collaboration and strategy. Players can join guilds, participate in guild activities, and work together to achieve common goals. This focus on sociality and guilds creates a strong bond between players, fostering a sense of cohesion and teamwork.
The upcoming Guilds V2 update promises to introduce new features to raiding, crafting, and trading, further enhancing the social aspects of the game and providing more opportunities for players to connect and collaborate.
Play-to-Earn Mechanics
Guild of Guardians introduces a play-to-earn model that allows players to turn their gaming passion into digital assets. By participating in in-game activities and challenges, players can earn $GOG tokens and NFTs, which can be traded or sold on secondary marketplaces. This model not only provides an additional incentive for players to engage with the game but also offers a way for them to potentially earn real-world value from their gameplay. The play-to-earn mechanics are designed to be fair and balanced, ensuring that skill and strategy are the primary drivers of success rather than financial investment.
Guild of Guardians offers a unique and engaging experience that combines immersive fantasy storytelling, strategic gameplay, blockchain integration, social features, and play-to-earn mechanics. These elements come together to create a game that is not only fun and rewarding but also innovative and inclusive. Whether you’re a traditional gamer or a blockchain enthusiast, Guild of Guardians has something to offer, making it a game worth exploring and loving.
