Qualcomm has just confirmed that its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite will have an Oryon chip, ahead of the Snapdragon Summit 2024 where the new chipset is expected to debut.
Snapdragon 8 Elite – Oryon CPU
The company posted a teaser video on Weibo confirming the launch of the new Oryon CPU mobile chip. It is called the ‘next generation of the Snapdragon flagship mobile platform’.
The teaser also showcased the new chip in a prototype device but it looks pretty similar to the OnePlus flagships and could hint at the inevitable launch of the OnePlus 13.
Qualcomm may not have confirmed the new Snapdragon 8 Elite monicker in their latest teaser video but the shift was hinted at by Digital Chat Station and spotted on promotional materials from Xiaomi and OnePlus.
Other reports claim that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite will have two performance cores clocked at up to 4.0GHz and six efficiency cores running at up to 2.8GHz. Meanwhile, benchmark leaks hint at a 35% improvement in single-core performance and a 30% better multi-core performance than its predecessor.
With Snapdragon Summit 2024 set to be held from October 21 to 24, we expect to learn about the official name of the latest Snapdragon flagship chipset sooner rather than later.
