Samsung is making significant strides in developing the next-generation Exynos chip, which is set to power the upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone. This project is crucial for Samsung’s foundry business, as it aims to address the challenges encountered with previous Exynos chips.

Leaksters also reported that Samsung may be sticking to Snapdragon chipsets for the meantime to power its S25 and S26 series of flagship phones.

Galaxy S27 Series with Exynos Chips Early Rumors

The new in-house chip is reported to be manufactured using Samsung’s cutting-edge second-generation 2nm process. 

According to a report from a Korean news outlet, this advanced technology dubbed “Ulysses” is expected to deliver a substantial performance boost of 12% compared to its predecessor. Additionally, the chip will offer significant reductions in power consumption (25%) and area (8%), making it more efficient and compact.

The foundry industry is highly competitive, with companies like TSMC and Intel investing heavily in advanced process technologies. Samsung’s success in developing the Exynos chip will not only enhance the performance of their smartphones but also strengthen their position in the foundry market.

The development of the in-house chip represents a crucial step for Samsung’s foundry business, as it demonstrates its ability to compete at the highest level of semiconductor manufacturing.

However, a lot of developments can happen in the next 2 years so take everything reported here with a grain of salt and wait for further statements from Samsung regarding this upcoming Exynos chipset.
