ASUS Introduces Its ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, Prime, and ProArt Z890 Motherboards

ASUS has just announced its offerings of ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, Prime, and ProArt Z890 motherboards that supports the Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2).  

ASUS Z7890 Motherboards

These accelerate performance and streamline the build process. Moreover, they feature ASUS AI Advisor, a new natural-language build assistant powered by AI, AEMP III, NItroPath DRAM Technology, and DIMM Fit Unleash DDR5 memory kits. Other highlights include a Thunderbolt 5 connection, WiFi 7 support, and more.

Moreover, the ASUS Z890 motherboards allow for support for the new Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) and the new LGA 1851 socket.

ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme

The ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme is a flagship motherboard styled in a classic, refined black and charcoal hues with an intricate logo embossing complementing a layered mirrored finish atop the wide chipset heatsink.

It has an 8-layer PCB with 2-ounce copper layers for better signal integrity. It has a VRM architecture that provides a 24+1+2+2 power stages, 10K capacitors, solid-pin connectors, and high-permeability MicroFine alloy chokes.

The motherboard also has beefy heatsinks to keep VRMs and chipsets operating comfortably and a plentiful amount of headers for chassis fans and AIO liquid CPU coolers.

The ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme keep the SSD with a 3D VC M.2 Heatsink with a 3D vapor chamber and extended heat pipes.

It also has DRAM slots equipped with NitroPath DRAM Technology and four onboard M.2 slots, with three wired for PCIe 5.0 SSDs. There are also two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots that can run in an x8/x8 configuration.

For connectivity, it has two Thunderbolt 5 ports, one USB 20Gbps Type-C port and seven USB 10Gbps ports. It also has headers that can support up to nine more USB ports on the front panel of the chassis.

  • Marvell Aqtion 10G Ethernet port
  • Wi-Fi 7 support
  • SupremeFX 7.1 Surround Sound audio
  • ESS ES9219 Quad DAC
  • 5-inch LCD panel protected by Corning glass

ROG Maximus Z890 Apex

The ROG Maximus Z890 Apex, on the other hand, is built for professional overclockers. It has two DDR5 DIMM slots configured with the shortest possible trace lengths for higher RAM multipliers.

Moreover, it has 8+8 ProCool II power connectors with solid pins and a 22+1+2+2 VRM Architecture.

The Apex has a dazzling white aesthetic with a cobble-gray PCB and polished metallic accents.

ROG Maximus Z890 Hero

The Hero takes the DNA of the ROG Z890 Extreme to a wider audience. It has Metallic embossing and refined textures that provide subtle accents with a Polymo Lighting II effect lighting module and a dynamic RGB illumination for the ROG logo.

The Hero is built on an ATX form factor with a 22+1+2+2 power stages and massive heatsinks integrated with the I/O cover.

Four DIMM slots are equipped with ASUS’ NItroPath DRAM Technology. It also has a ROG M.2 PowerBoost with six total M.2 slots with three wired for PCIe 5.0 bandwidth.

It has a PCIe Slot Q-Release Slim and the new M.2 Q-Latch, M.2 Q-Release, and M.2 Q-Slide mechanisms.

  • Nine USB ports (one Type-C and eight Type-A)
  • Wi-Fi 7
  • 5G and 2.5G Ethernet
  • SupremeFX 7.1 Surround Sound audio

ROG Strix Z890-E Gaming WiFi

The Strix Z890-E Gaming WiFi has a 18+1+2+2 power stages that makes it easy to pair with the Intel Core Utlra 9 processor. The motherboard has an 8-layer PCB with 2-ounce copper layers that provide elevated signal integrity and has the new NitroPath DRAM Technology.

The motherboard has seven onboard M.2 slots with their own cooling solution, three wired for the PCIe 5.0 SSD. The three feature ROG M.2 PowerBoost.

  • WiFi 7 support
  • WiFi Q-Antenna
  • 5G Ethernet port

ProArt Z890-CREATOR WIFI  

The ProArt Z890-CREATOR WIFI has a characoal hues with gold accents. It features four DDR5 memory slots and supports DIMM Fit and AEMP III.

There are five M.2 slots onboard and two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for multi-GPU support that can operate in x8/x8 configuration.

It also has a pair of Thunderbolt 5 ports and a DisplayPort In port on the rear I/O to help drive a display. Moreover, it has a Marvell AQtion 10G Ethernet port that delivers high-bandwidth connections to a local network or network-attached devices. The ProArt Z890 motherboard also supports Wi-Fi 7 and an Intel 2.5G Ethernet port.

The other motherboards of the ASUS Z890 include the ROG Strix-F Gaming WiFi, ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi, and ROG Strix-I Gaming WiFi, TUF Gaming Z890-Pro WiFi, ASUS Prime Z890-P WiFi-CSM, and ASUS Prime Z890M-PLUS WiFi-CSM.
