realme has just officially introduced the realme GT 7 Pro in China. The device is the company’s latest flagship powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
It is just one of the many flagship devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite coming. That said though, we wonder can it stand out amongst the competition that is set to arrive this month and beyond.
realme GT 7 Pro
Based on its specs, here are some of its features that I think can make it stand out in what’s going to be a competitive crowd in the following months.
A Massive Battery
Front and center is its battery. In the ‘norm’ of 5000mAh battery cells in smartphones these days, the realme GT 7 Pro is powered by a whopping 6500mAh battery. This is at par with the RedMagic 9S Pro introduced in July 2024.
Moreover, this exceeds the already impressive 6000mAh cell of the ROG Phone 7 series and sits just right below the 7000mAh pack of the HUAWEI nova Y91. However, of course, the nova Y91, isn’t a flagship device but it’s still worth mentioning for its impressive battery.
The 6500mAh battery of the realme GT 7 Pro is a silicon-carbon negative electrode battery which is said to have the highest 10% silicon content.
Let’s not forget that the massive cell also tops up with 120W Smart Flash Charging which is said to offer 50% charge in 14 minutes.
A “World’s First” Display
The realme GT 7 Pro also debuted the 8T LTPO Eco² AMOLED Plus display developed in partnership with Samsung. The display removes the polarizer which allows the device to offer a sharper and more vibrant display all while lowering power consumption and has an eye protection feature.
The device also has the Qualcomm Ultrasonic Fingerprint Unlock under the new OLED display for faster and more reliable fingerprint recognition. It also supports being able to unlock the device with your fingerprint underwater. (Yes, it does have an IP68+IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.)
The panel also has an equal-depth four micro-curve design, which combines and offers a flat-screen but has a smoother aesthetic because of the subtle curve. Yes, the Xiaomi 15 series also uses this same design for its display.
Downsides?
One of the downsides though of the realme GT 7 Pro though is that the company has only offered 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
Other Snapdragon 8 Elite devices have yet to be launched and Xiaomi didn’t quite reveal this for the Xiaomi 15 series, but the Xiaomi 14 series received 4 major Android updates and 5 years of security updates. We assume that the Xiaomi 15 series has the same length of update support or slightly more.
With flagship devices, most people, including myself, expect a bit more software support because it will cost more than other devices. Of course, one can hope that it will be a device that you can use for many years. Sure, 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates is a lot but it definitely could be better.

Our Verdict
So do I think that the realme GT 7 Pro can stand out in the flagship market, especially amidst its fellow Snapdragon 8 Elite devices? I think it can stand out specifically due to its battery coupled with its fast charging and display.
As of writing this, it’s uncertain if any device will introduce a similar display. And we’re uncertain if the display can be easily discernable, especially for everyday users but at least on paper, it’s new and pretty impressive.

He would then transition to focus more on the world of tech which has also began his journey into learning more about this world. That said though, he still has the mentality of "as long as it works" for his personal gadgets.
