nubia has officially unveiled the nubia Z70 Ultra, its latest flagship and a successor to the nubia Z60 Ultra unveiled last year. Not to be confused with the Leading Version introduced earlier this year.
The new Z70 Ultra comes with the latest flagship Qualcomm chipset and improved display and cameras. We don’t have a unit, at least not yet (wink wink?), but its spec sheet tells us a story of its performance.
nubia Z70 Ultra
The nubia Z70 Ultra is built around a 6.85-inch BOE AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel also has an optical under-display fingerprint scanner and the company’s latest 16MP under-display front camera. The latter is said to have an enhanced algorithm for better photos and an updated 430ppi area above the sensor.
Around the back, it has a 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor with a variable aperture lens that can cover f/1.59 to f/4.0 aperture. This is joined by a 64MP 2.7x periscope telephoto OmniVision OV64B camera and a 50MP OmniVision OV50D ultrawide lens.
The company also introduced a camera button below the volume rockers and power button on the right side. It allows you to focus with a half-press and capture photos quickly with a full press.
Having experienced the variable aperture of the HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra, it’s quite a good addition, especially with a very capable shooter. That said though, I haven’t tried a nubia device yet and I’m not sure how good their camera systems are.
Under the hood, it has the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with up to 24GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. It also boasts a 6150mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
The battery on the nubia Z70 Ultra is slightly improved from last year’s 6000mAh battery while sharing the same 80W fast charging. It’s uncertain how large of a leap the 150mAh is but I’m appreciating the larger batteries that are coming out nowadays.
The device also comes with an IP68+IP69 rating and runs on Nebula AIOS that comes with AI features on top of Android 15.
