The launch of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D was a huge success with the CPU selling out in almost all every stores globally. AMD continues to bet on its 3D V-cache technology with the launch of the new 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs at CES 2025. These new CPUs are the successor to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D sports the same core count as the Ryzen 9 9950X with 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and a max boost frequency of up to 5.7GHz. The 9950X3D has 144MB total cache with 2nd gen AMD V-Cache technology, the same one found on the 9800X3D.
According to AMD, the 9950X3D is 8% faster on average than the 7950X3D at 1080p. Compared to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, AMD claims a performance difference of 20% on average at 1080p.
AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D
The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D has 12 cores and 12 threads with up to a 5.5GHz max boost clock, 100MHz slightly slower than the 7900X3D and 9900X. That said, it still retains the same 120W TDP despite having 140MB of cache, 12MB more than the 7900X3D.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D will be available in March 2025. AMD has not yet unveiled any pricing details.
