Earlier today at a special event in Pasig, Vivo Philippines announced the arrival of its latest entry-level smartphone to be offered here in the country, the Vivo Y55.
The Y55 is designed with the Filipino youth in mind, who love to express themselves and share their stories online using their smartphones. Not only can it keep up with their multi-tasking demands, but it also offers useful features to level up their selfie experience.
The Y55’s ultra-slim and unibody design shows craftsmanship and elegance with its 2.5D curved glass and a premium finish similar to the V3 and V3Max.
It’s also Vivo’s first entry-level smartphone to sport an octa-core processor. Specifically, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD card. It has a 5.2-inch 720p display, carries a 2650mAh battery, and is Dual SIM, LTE, and OTG capable.
In the imaging department, the main camera is an 8MP shooter with a capability to scale photos to 32MP resolution in Ultra HD mode, while front facing camera is at 5MP and equipped with the Smart Screen Flash feature which automatically enables itself in low light situations to make your selfies look brighter.
The Y55 runs on FuntouchOS version 2.6 (on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow) which introduces some nifty improvements such as Smart Split 2.0, which for example allows you to continue watching a video on half of your screen, while reading or replying to a text message on the other half.
