Gionee has just announced a powerful (and very expensive) mid-range device with a head-turning look, named the M2017.
This phone is a fresh take on design for the company and is made from a combination of aluminium and leather, which in a way, symbolizes formality and luxury. The look isn’t the prettiest you’d find today, but is definitely striking to say the least.
The M2017 sports a 5.7-inch 2K AMOLED display with curved edges, which makes it a treat for gaming and media consumption. The shield-shaped accent at the back houses the dual-camera setup (12MP + 13MP) and LED flash.
At the bottom is a USB Type-C port, speaker, and a microphone. Something missing? yes, you won’t find a headphone jack in this phone.
The SIM Tray can be found on the left side
While the power button and volume rocker is on the right side
Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage (no MicroSD card support), and two, yes, two 3500mAh batteries. Other features include a fingerprint scanner, Quick Charge 3.0 support, optical zoom for the dual camera setup, and the capability to use the phone as a powerbank to charge other devices.
The M2017 will come in Black and Gold variants, and has a hefty price tag of… surprise, around $1000. There is however, no news as to whether this device will be available to regions other than China.
