It seems that that ASUS is planning to surprise us with a very unique smartphone in CES 2017, as what seems to be a press release from Qualcomm (accidentally perhaps) was posted containing information about the ASUS Zenfone AR.

Not much has been revealed in the document. But what is says is that the newest member of the Zenfone lineup sports a Snapdragon 821 processor, contrary to rumors of it being the first device to use the Snapdragon 835.

The Zenfone AR is a Tango-Enabled smartphone like the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro. This means that it has the capability of producing a more immersive AR experience that rivals that of more powerful systems such as the HTC Vive.

Tango is a Google Technology which paves the way for better AR content by being able to sense movement in addition to location awareness. This allows for apps that can for example, track your movement across a room, or place virtual objects through the screen of your phone and make it look like they’re actually there.

The document has been taken down as of the time of writing. So we’ll have to see what other things this device brings to the table.
