There are lots of styli (or styluses) in the market for your tablet. Some come in cheap or expensive variants. Of course, I am not referring to the styli tips made of plastic (also known as resistive stylus), which your fathers may have probably used on their palm pilots. Since most devices today use capacitive touchscreens, styli tips are now made of rubber, which tricks the screen into thinking the stylus is your finger.
Today, I’m going to give you a review of the 3 capacitive styli I’ve tested. The styli I review are the following: iBattz Mojo 2-in-1 Stylus (left), Targus Stylus for iPad (center) and Euroo Capacitive Stylus (right). In the purpose of this review, I’ll be using the New iPad and a famous iOS application, Paper.
1. iBattz Mojo 2-in-1 Stylus Pen
The iBattz Mojo 2-in-1 Stylus Pen looks very professional and doubles as a pen, thereby making this pen truly “mightier than the sword”.
This, by far, is the most useful stylus I’ve used. For us Filipinos, this one is really ‘sulit’. The rubber tip of this stylus is smooth, thereby making it very accurate to use. The ballpoint pen comes in very handy as well.
The stylus has a long shaft, which makes it comfortable to use as a stylus and as a pen. I find this stylus quite heavy, which is basically a two-edged sword: the weight can be a great help on accuracy but adds a bit of stress.
Here comes the deal-breaker part: although the rubber tip is smooth, it is not unfortunately durable. I’ve already seen some cracks on the tip after using it for 2 weeks.
The iBattz Mojo 2-in-1 Stylus Pen is available at Power Mac Store for PhP480.00. The pen can be replaced with Parker ballpoint refills.
Verdict: Buy it but if you’re a heavy user, then you better consider the next stylus on my list. If you’re after something cheaper and functions as a pen as well, then buy this.
2. Targus Stylus for iPad
This stylus features a durable rubber tip that won’t scratch the tablet’s surface. In my opinion, this stylus feels smoother to use. If you are using SlideIT or Swype on your Android Tablet, the Targus Stylus is must-but accessory. This pen does not disappoint in the accuracy department.
Draw Something fans, rejoice; for this is the best stylus I’ve used to draw…errmm…something. The shaft is thin enough for me to see what I am drawing. It does not have long shaft but proves to be very comfortable to use.
The price may a bit too off for some as this costs PhP849. But, cost is sometimes a gauge for quality. With this stylus, you won’t go wrong; price should not be an issue.
Verdict: Buy it!
3. Euroo 2-in-1 Capacitive Stylus
This capactive stylus by Euroo is one of the most affordable among the three styli I’ve reviewed. It may be the cheapest but I find its design very elegant and sexy. Thanks to its graphite-colored shaft and round-rubber cushion tip. Slightly thicker than the Targus stylus, the Euroo stylus excels more on grip. Like the iBattz 2-in-1 Stylus, this also functions as a pen thus adding more value to your money.
The only slight drawback of this pen is that it can leave a black rubber mark on the screen when the rubber tip is pushed too hard.
This stylus is available on selected outlets of iSwitch, Power Mac Store and Digital Walker for only PhP445.00
Verdict: Buy it!
