MWC has officially started. And what a way to kick things off with a new smartphone with the BlackBerry name. Introducing the KEYOne.
The KEYone boasts an anodized aluminium frame, a 4.5-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, and is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 CPU with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 3505mAh battery (which charges to 50% in just 36 minutes thanks to Quick Charge 3.0 support).
The back hosts a 12MP main camera with PDAF and dual LED flash, while an 8MP camera takes care of the selfie department.
But the most notable feature of this device is the inclusion of a backlit physical keyboard, a reminder of BlackBerry’s roots. And take note, it supports touch gestures and up to 52 customizable shortcuts (ex: pressing “I” to open your inbox). The fingerprint sensor is also embedded into the space key.
The device will run on Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box, and has been equipped with security keys on the processor, as well as BlackBerry’s DTEK app for hardware and software protection. It alerts you whenever your privacy may be at risk, and provides information on what actions you can take.
The KEYone will be available worldwide this April, and will cost $549.
