Get ready to be awed by creativity and talent, as AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017 has just unveiled the first batch of international artists who will be coming to the event on August 25 to 27 at the SMX Convention Center.
Creative geniuses such as Stanley Lau aka artgerm, Quiccs, Alan Quah, Simone Legno, and Jason Freeny are set to share their talents and ideas to the thousands of fans in attendance of the biggest pop culture convention in the country.
Globally acclaimed concept artist, designer, and instructor Stanley Lau aka artgerm, will be present to share his passion and talent for imbuing works with life and color. He’s also a co-founder of Imaginary Friends Studios, which does work for a number of entertainment giants such as Capcom, DC, and Marvel.
Apart from being a toy designer, illustrator, and grafitti artist, Quiccs is also the founder of Hidden Fortress, which issues collector vinyl and action figures. He also co-owns Burnwater Studios and is a member of the international graffiti groups Zinc Nite Crew, Three Flare Krew, and Pilipinas Street Plan.
Alan Quah is the founder of Komikaki Studio and has contributed works for publishers such as DC Comics, Legendary Comics, IDW Publishing, and Titan Comics.
Jason Freeny is a sculptor and toy designer known for his iconic x-ray dissections of figures and characters, and will showcase this unique style that has been well sought after by numerous artists, licensors, and companies worldwide. In addition, fans will also be able to purchase limited edition collectibles produced with Mighty Jaxx during the event.
Simone Legno is a world-famous artist and graphic illustrator, is one of the brains behind art giant tokidoki, and has collaborated with names such as Karl Lagerfeld, LeSportsac, Onitsuka Tiger, Marvel, and Hello Kitty.
Also joining the roster is award-winning cosplayer Philip Odango, whose Doctor Strange Costume was officially featured by Marvel, Seol-based cosplayer Pion Kim, who is best known for her costumes of Sombra from Overwatch and Mai Shranui from KoF, Jin “behindinfinity” Joson, who is famous for her interpretations of characters like Hiro Hamada from Big Hero, Raito of Death Note, and Himura Kenshin, and Haiden Hazard, who is a regular guest at conventions in SEA where she hosts, panels, and judges cosplay competitions.
There’s also some good news for aspiring artists as Marvel Comics is looking for talented pencillers and cover artists to join a lineup that has included many of the big names from comics world.
Adding to the excitement are a mix of international and local exhibitors and sponsors including Filbar’s, Tokidoki, Hasbro, HOOQ TV, HP, TV5, Fully Booked, Mighty Jaxx, Acer, Comic Odyssey, and 3DSense Media School among others.
Netflix has also partnered with APCC Manila 2017 as one of the main sponsors, and will offer exciting experiences powered by its wide array of orginal series’ and films.
APCC Manila 2017 tickets are available at the SM Tickets website, and at all SM Tickets Outlets. Prices start at PhP600 for a one-day pass, PhP900 for a two-day pass, and PhP1,100 for a three-day pass. All of which will give the ticketholder access to stage activities, performances, and the main show floor. The event is free for children aged five years and below for all days, but a valid identification will be required for verification purposes.
