Apart from the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Apple also unveiled what they call, a sneak peak into the future of smartphones (not that it was unexpected). Meet the iPhone X.

The iPhone X boasts an all-screen display with minimal bezels. It sports a 5.8-inch Super Retina Display, the first OLED panel that passes the company’s standards. This HDR display also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10, which should make any type of content look eye-candy. Like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X is also powered by the new A11 Bionic chip, which can deliver up to 70% better performance in multi-threaded tasks.

The Home button has been replaced by gesture controls, allowing users to  more naturally and intuitively navigate the user interface. For example, swiping up from the bottom lets you go back to the Home screen from anywhere.

Face ID is a new feature of the iPhone X which uses the 7MP TrueDepth camera (made up of a dot projector, infrared camera and flood illuminator) and is powered by the new A11 Bionic chip for use with facial recognition for unlocking your device. It can also be used for Apple Pay, to gain access to secured apps, along with many more features.

The iPhone X makes use of a redesigned dual rear camera system with dual OIS, and is composed of two 12MP sensors, one wide-angle, and one Telephoto. It also makes use of Apple-designed image signal processor for faster auto-focus in low light and better HDR photos.

The iPhone X’s cameras are also tuned for AR, and can record 4K 60fps and 1080p 240fps slow motion videos. Like the iPhone 8 Plus, this device also features Portrait Mode with Portrait Lighting, which lets the user to choose from 5 studio lighting effects for stunning portraits with a shallow depth-of-field effect.

Animoji comes as an iMessage app pre-installed on iPhone X, and brings more life into your emojis. The TrueDepth camera works hand in hand with the A11 Bionic to analyze over 50 different facial muscle movements, and then animates them to create numerous Animojis, including a panda, a unicorn, and a robot.

Like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X is also designed for Qi wireless charging.
