Mayon – confirming that the broadband Internet services along with its wireless network remains operational, and that its engineering and technical teams are on standby to ensure that subscribers can maintain connectivity to the said networks and remain in touch with their loved ones.
With the possibility of utility issues occurring due to volcanic activity, PLDT-Smart has set up Libreng Tawag, Charging and Wi-Fi stations in evacuation centers near Mt. Mayon, so that affected residents can quickly inform their loved ones of their current status.
These charging and communication stations offer free services, and are located in the following areas:
GUINOBATAN | Guinobatan East Elementary School |
LEGAZPI | Bagumbayan Central School |
STO. DOMINGO | San Isidro Elementary School |
MALILIPOT | San Jose Elementary School |
DARAGA | Upper Malabog Elementary School and Albay Central School |
Even though Mayon’s activity is confined within the 8km danger zone, residents should remain vigilant and at the same time proactive in keeping themselves, their properties and their families safe. To help guide Albay residents in these times, PLDT-Smart has also compiled disaster response and safety tips in case of a volcanic eruption.
