Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., recently received two awards fro the U.S Environmental Protection Agency, for its continuous efforts to promote sustainability and eco-friendly methodologies.
The EPA awarded Samsung with the 2017 Cutting Edge award for its Galaxy Upcycling program, and for the fourth consecutive year, was also commended for its U.S e-waste collection initiatives with the Gold Tier Award.
“In an effort to curb e-waste and extend the lifecycle of our existing technology, we introduced the Galaxy Upcycling program which repurposes technology resources into new devices. We’re honored to receive the Cutting Edge Champion Award for this program and our efforts to extend a products’ life-cycle by repurposing its functionality.” – Michael Lawder, Senior Vice President of Customer Care at Samsung Electronics America.
The second distinction is for its long-term commitment to the proper disposal of e-waste in the U.S. In 2016 alone, Samsung’s electronic recycling program resulted to over 118 million pounds of recycled e-waste in the U.S.

Both awards were given during a ceremony at CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
