Gionee is a company that also climbs the ladder for smartphone competition. Last 2016, they decided to build a manufacturing plant in India to improve their sales.reviewed were classified as low to mid-range. The Gionee A1 Lite is a good example of their low-range smartphone but the price is questionable, at least for today’s smartphone competition. Here’s why.

Design

Gionee A1 LiteThe Gionee A1 Lite’s design is relatively similar to an iPhone 6 Plus because of its texture. It sports a 5.3-inch (13.47cm) IPS display with HD resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The bezels are definitely wide on this device as you’d expect. It has 3 capacitive buttons in front: Recent Apps, Home and Back button, respectively. You’ll also see the 20 Megapixel Camera with f/2.0 aperture beside the earpiece along with the Selfie Flash.

Gionee A1 Lite At the back,  the 13 megapixel camera sits at the center top of the device with flash. Under the camera is the fingerprint scanner that performs very well in our experience. The speaker is also located at the back.Gionee A1 LiteAt the right side, you’ll see the volume rockers with the power/wake up button. Under the device is the microUSB port with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The SIM tray is located at the left side.

Performance

The Gionee A1 Lite sports a 1.3GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor that runs with 3GB RAM. It also uses a Mali-T720MP3 for the GPU. The device performs well but not great in the rigorous and extensive benchmarking from AnTuTu. The device scored 45,881 points defeating only 5% of other results. The overall breakdown of the overall score is posted down below for your reference:

In addition, the camera of the A1 Lite balances the bad side to good side. The front snapper performs very well because of its 20 megapixel resolution. It has built-in filters for the user’s pleasure.

The 13MP back camera also offers a number of modes, and surprisingly performs great even in dark subjects.

Verdict

Gionee A1 LiteThe Gionee A1 Lite can easily be categorized as a decent entry-level smartphone. However, its specs are not that great even when compared to some of the more affordable devices released this year. And while its cameras are decent, its Php12,990 price tag is just too steep for what it offers.

Pros

  • Great front and rear camera
  • Good build quality
  • Good speaker quality
  • Fast fingerprint sensor

Cons

  • Mediocre design
  • Expensive
